Giving Thanks and Expressing Gratitude, A Few Thoughts From Our President, Jeff Russell

Most of this post is a duplicate of last Thanksgiving, but with a few minor (and welcomed) changes. Last year, the circumstances around COVID were more severe, so many of us couldn’t see friends or family. And, that was hard!

This year, I hope you can spend time with your loved ones (especially ones you might not have seen for a long time!) and are conscious about how grateful we should all be for being able to spend time, share laughter, and create memories this Thanksgiving!

As I said last year, there are so many reasons to be thankful and find gratitude regardless of our situations.

Here are a few of my favorites:

  • Whatever you focus on grows larger. It is true of fears, dreams, aspirations, and more. So, why not focus on gratitude, and have that be the feeling that fills you up and grows inside of you?
  • Being thankful can contribute to better health overall, including serving as an antidepressant.
  • Feeling and expressing gratitude can improve relationships – ones with others and with yourself!
  • When we’re thankful, we’re more positive overall.
  • Gratitude prompts generosity, which can make a significant positive impact on someone who may really need it.
  • You’re a more awesome person to be around when you exude gratitude.

Gratitude and thankfulness seem to be the ultimate cure, so why not take some time this week to give it a try?

If you need a little more structure for this exercise, I would definitely recommend a book called The Five-Minute Journal. I personally use this, and so do many of the Pango Peeps in coaching. This stuff works! If you want a copy of this journal and will commit to using it, let me know, and I will get you one.

I am grateful for all of you.

Life is good. – Jeff
